Welcome to Bowland Forest Gliding Club.

We started flying back in the 1950’s and have owned our present airfield since 1973. We are now the only gliding club in the north west of England.

Just 20 minutes off the M55 / M6 and surrounded by the beautiful Bowland Forest countryside (an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty), the club makes a wonderful base for flights over stunning local scenery.

Weather permitting, we fly on Wednesdays, Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays throughout the year with visitor flights by arrangement at the weekends

The Club
Bowland Forest Gliding Club evolved from the Blackpool and Fylde Gliding Club which was formed in 1950. It is a limited company and operates as a membership based club.
We are also a registered Community Amateur Sports Club (CASC ) and gratefully acknowledge the support that this provides.

Our Purpose
Our purpose is to encourage and promote a practical interest in the techniques and art of gliding and soaring, and, to provide gliding and soaring instruction and flying facilities for members. Anyone with an interest in flying, or learning to fly gliders is welcome.

Management Team
The club is run entirely by volunteers and consists of a Chairman, Vice Chairman, Treasurer and Secretary supported by a general committee. Flying is overseen by the Chief Flying Officer supported by a number of Instructors.
